Welcome to Kenyatta University School of Nursing Sciences

The school of Nursing at Kenyatta University started as a department of Nursing in 2004 under the Centre for Complementary Medicine and Biotechnology (CCMB) and later as a department in the school of medicine. It was established into a school in 2016. This was to respond to the increased demand for specialized programs.

The school has developed programs to meet the Kenya Health mission of skilled and competent health professionals who will participate in realization of Vision 2030 for health.

The school endeavors to take a leading role in the training of professionals who are well equipped with solid scientific knowledge base, diverse skills and positive attitudes to enable them function in a challenging Health environment.

The school programs aim at producing graduates who will take a leading role in Health care, research, training, health care planning and policy development. The graduates are empowered to approach health issues with a holistic global perspective and critically analyze problems with a view to provide preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative healthcare services to the individual family and community.

To train highly skilled and competent resourceful nurse practitioners with acumen in health care provision in diverse settings.

To be a center of excellence in training professional Nurses, Nursing Researchers and Community service providers.


  1. To train nurses with a solid scientific knowledge – base, participatory approaches, ethical and professional attributes requisite in the provision of quality nursing Services in diverse settings.
  2. To inculcate in the students, skills and positive attitudes in creativity, communication resourcefulness, independent and critical thinking in order to enhance delivery of quality and effective nursing services in diverse settings.
  3. To train nurses who will offer leadership in research, training, health care planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and policy development for sustainable quality care provision and improvement.

Public and Private Universities, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Local government, Private and Mission Hospitals, Non – governmental Organizations dealing with health related issues, Medical Training Colleges, Government, Private and Mission as well as in the international Market.
